Magellan Compass for BlackBerry PlayBook upated to V 2.0, now works with Bridge

After a long development cycle, o2 Interactive has released version 2.0 of Magellan Compass for the BlackBerry PlayBook. This release includes a lot of new features to the already feature packed mapping app. One of which seems to be an unexpected bonus. Thanks to the recent upgrades to BlackBerry Bridge and the PlayBook’s Tablet OS,  Magellan Compass now works with BlackBerry Bridge. No Wi-Fi or tethering required, If you are a BlackBerry Bridge user you can now use your PlayBook as an in car GPS navigation unit.

Over the last couple of days I have been testing it out and I’m really happy with how well it has performed.  It accurately tracks and displays my current location, speed and direction of travel.  The turn by turn directions have been spot on every time and the Yelp integration is great for finding new places. It makes for a pretty good dedicated car GPS unit substitute.  Also  Magellan Compass is available as a free trial so you can’t go wrong trying it out for yourself.

Features:

* Multiple map types (regular, satellite, hybrid, and terrain).
* Address lookup.
* Turn by turn directions.
* Arbitrary location information (reverse address lookup).
* 7 day weather forecast.
* Elevation information.
* Auto saves entered addresses for easy recall.
* Bookmark location and map levels for quick access.
* GPS tracking of direction, speed and location.
* Full Yelp (www.yelp.com) integration
* Ability to manage bookmarks.
* Screen will not go idle so no need to tap the application to keep it awake.
* Ability to manage previously entered addresses.

PlayBook Solitaire Collection. SoloDeck

SoloDeck is a collection of solitaire card games for your BlackBerry PlayBook. Included at this time are four classic games: Freecell, Klondike, Scorpion, and Memory.

The app has been designed to maximize use of the screen as the play surface. The main screen consists of the layout with the playing cards, and nothing else, just as you might see it on a real table. There is nothing else on the play surface to distract you from the game itself. Game play is simple and intuitive; you drag a card or cards from one pile to another with your finger. However, if you want to keep track of the game playing time and score, there is an option to place a “score board” on-screen. It does not interfere with game play, and can be made visible or hidden at will.

Using left and right gestures, you can navigate to the Options, Statistics, and Help screens where you can control aspects of the game, view statistics, and link to our website for more details and playing guides. You can also get to these screens by swiping down to reveal the app’s navigation menu.

Game features include:
- multiple built-in game types (Freecell, Klondike, Scorpion, and Memory)
- shortcuts for legal multiple-card moves when possible (Freecell)
- fully integrated with your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s user interface
- intuitive drag and drop game play
- game statistics including hands played, won, lost, and best time, saved between sessions
- popup context menu for game options
- undo move, restart game
- statistics can be reset
- selectable card design
- animation effects…as you drag cards over target piles, the targets appear to “pulse” with a heartbeat
- adjustable audio level
- some games feature auto move, which can be turned off
- alternate screen layout for Klondike, more convenient for right-handed players
- backed by our website that provides game information, and links for support

Price: Free trial or 0.99 for the full version.
