All bar files in this first post have been tested to make sure they work before being added. Past the first post is a lot of discussion and requests.
All of the requested apps that end up working correctly will get added to the list here in this first post.
All of these have been converted, signed, uploaded by us. Since we can do all of the work ourselves we can take requests, if you have an app you would like converted feel free to ask for it. We can usually have it converted and uploaded for testing with in minutes depending on the time of day it is requested. If you use our list, we would really appreciate it if you were cool about it and gave us some credit for all of the work we do here for the community.

Yes only the developer 2.0 for now which many with two PlayBook are running. The official release will be in February.
Post Excerpt: To start using Android apps on your PlayBook you will need to make sure that you are running the latest PlayBook OS 2.0 beta. There are some cons to using this beta OS. Some of the native apps are broken or missing. This version of OS 2.0 is meant for developers only, it does not contain end user features such as: video chat, email, calendar contacts, video store, etc.
BlackBerry PlayBook uses .BAR files no matter what the app is. Android files are .APK. You can use .APK files on a rooted PlayBook only. The guide below and files we have were APK files that were converted to .BAR files to be used with the android app player which uses .BAR files on the PlayBook 2.0 OS. The Officail release of PlayBook 2.0 is expected to be available in February.

Thanks for uploading and posting all the apps!!
When I download I get a few different folders and some an apk file. Am I missing a step to convert or to get the bar files?

For example PulseNewsReader link, downloads the PulseNewsReader folder with two subfolders: android and META-INF
android folder has subfolder named res and APK file Pulse News Reader 4.9.apk
not able to find a bar file, but I may just be severely confused. Thanks!
Are you sure you have the 2.0 beta OS?
All of the files here were converted and tested by me. All of the links go back to a drop box and the drop box doesn't have any apk files in it. I just downloaded pulse and it is a .bar file.
Where are you seeing it called an apk?

Yes to the Beta 2.0. I'm able to connect PB to DDPB on my PC and it shows Version 2.0.0.6149
It seems the issue for me is the actual download – when I click to download Pulse, the file I get is PulseNewsReader.zip which contains a few different subfolders with no .bar files….
Any suggestions on that?
That is really strange, I'm not sure why it shows as a zip. None of the files are zipped or archived.
When I click on the Pulse link above I get one file named "PulseNewsReader.bar" it don't matter if I use my PC, phone or PB they all download the same file and that file is ready to use as soon as it finishes downloading.
Maybe try clicking the Pulse link with your PB's browser. See if it lets you save the file as a .bar

Must just be a PC/Browser issue. App selection is great, very happy with youversion

I'm still not sure why your PC is downloading them as Zip files but your not the only one. Someone else mentioned he was seeing apk files also. You will not download any apk files from the links above. Each of the links take you to a file that started as a apk file but ALL of them have been repackaged and are now ready to use bar files.
Could you tell me what Windows os you are using and your internet browser? When you click the link from the PC browser does it automatically say "save file as ——.zip" or does it do like your PlayBook just did and default to "save file as —–.bar"?
I am trying to reproduce the problem so I can help others that may run into issues.

OS Windows 7 Home Premium, IE9 9.0.8112.16421
When clicking on the links using IE9 on the PC, the file that comes up for download is x.zip
This zip file contains 'x' folder which contains subfolders
PB browser downloads correctly, x.bar file
I haven't tried any other browsers. If you want to PM with your email address, I can send over one of the zip files.
Thank you so much. We do have a issue with IE. I tried it myself and it does download the files as a .zip, which isn't good. I'm guessing it is an issue with how IE handles Drop Box files.
I use Firefox, never thought to try IE. Sorry for the confussion and thanks again we will look into ways of fixing it.

Randy tried converting the Netflix app and it was a no go. I am sure he will keep checking for an updated one to convert.

I have installed all the application given /blackberry-playbook-forums/blackberry-playbook-bar-files/playbook-bar-files-to-get-started-with-over-100-of-them/(around 113 apps). But only Angry bird application is working. No error message is being displayed on touch of other application, but nothing happen.
Playbook OS 2.0.0.6149 has been installed.
Please guide me to resolve this problem.
Some quick questions.
Did you use dingleberry to jailbreak your PlayBook?
Are you opening them through the android player and make sure you did all the steps correctly?
You are the only one that has reported a problem like this.
Did you download these app via IE9 and it zipped the file? If so when you unzip the file it will interpet the file as an APK.
You need to download via your PlayBook or a Browser like FireFox.

I’m in outside sales. I’m always looking for a way to keep my gadgets charged. You would think a car charger would do but when I have my playbook, 9900 and my laptop all to babysit everyday it sure makes it tough. The Zaggsparq sure would make my life a whole lot easier! Peace out and may our 2.0 make the playbook the best tablet eva!
I suggest drop your car chargers. All of them. Get a 12V to 120V inverter and use the wall chargers shipped with your devices. Note that the ‘generic’ USB chargers will not do a very good job for the PlayBook. The PlayBook needs a powerful charger to charge quickly.
I also suggest to get yourself a “magnetic” charger. It will fast charge your PB without the possibility of damaging your micro USB port. This is the best investment you can make.

I am a new user here so be gentle if i screw up……i want to say how disappointed i am as i purchased the new 4g PB for my wife and especially to have the Kobo reader app, only to find out that the app is useless unless you are connected to wifi……she likes pb for simple computing needs etc but looks like i need to buy a kobo reader…what a pile of crap…..does anyone have a fix???….thanks…Bear
once your kobo books are downloaded you do NOT need to be on wi-fi to read them. I read kobo books from my playbook all the time, do WISH that kindle would get there butts in gear and give us a kindle app for the playbook.
Hi, am I alone in having an app that refuses to delete by the regular way?
Found a way, using sideloading delete button. A bit of a pain but reclaimed some space.
I hope this helps if anyone has deleting problem.
Was wondering how long it might be before kindle does an app for the playbook, kobo came free with the playbook can’t figure why kindle doesn’t care about losing all those customers.
Yes I know it has been said we can side load and all of that for kindle but really, why should we do that when it is to help buy their books?
