About a month ago I randomly downloaded a game called PewPew and wasn’t expecting much but ended up having an insane amount of fun playing the game! Obviously with it being the first game in the series, it was missing a few features and didn’t feel like it was living up to its full potential. Thankfully I got in contact with the creator of the original and he told me he was creating a second and gave me an early release copy of the game to review. The game has truly lived up to its full potential!
For any of you who don’t know Pew Pew is a game where you play as a ship and have to shoot oncoming enemies in different game modes. The game features bright colors, brilliantly smooth game play and hours upon hours of fun!
The menus are identical to the first game which I thought had its ups and downs, I loved the original game’s menus and so you could say don’t change something if it’s not broken right? However, it would have been nice to see a little variety as this is a completely new game in the series. The menus still however retain their beautiful smoothness and simple colors and so there is no doubting that the game navigates very nicely with menus different pages rolling all over the place; a very solid menu system in general.

PewPew 2 has many new features over it’s predecessor and this new features really add a huge amount of depth into the game. You can now unlock nine different ships to use, there are also now 6 different game modes (eight if you complete the two campaign levels.) Talking of the campaign levels, these are a massive amount of fun, I couldn’t believe how many different objectives you could have with two joysticks and a ship! I unfortunately couldn’t get passed the Boss at the end of the first campaign and so didn’t get to test campaign two, but the first came, pain was incredibly fun, so I can only expect more of the same from the second. It would nice if the developer updated the application to the make the boss a little easier and some of the new game modes a bit easier. The three new game modes are called Asteroids, Chromatic Conflict and Highway. Asteroids is very similar to the classic asteroids game from the 90s which was incredibly popular. Chromatic Conflict is a little different; you have to shoot the ships that are the same colour as yours and you can change color by flying over different colored pads. Finally, in Highway your objective is to chase after spheres and collect them whilst avoiding enemies. All the new game Modes are fun, once again due to me ducking at games, I couldn’t access the other two game modes as they involved being able to complete the campaign levels!
This game is a beautiful game and what I complained about in the previous game was that it didn’t take advantage of the colors that it could; the new game modes definitely take advantage of the colors and are beautiful. The game runs smoothly and there are no points where My game was halted by lagging, a very beautiful game all in all.
This game is presented wonderfully, the menus roll around really nicely and everything is clear to read and just in general the application has been made very easy to use by the developer. There is almost no learning curve to the application as everything is where it says it is.

In summary, PewPew 2 is definitely a game you will want to pick up when it hits the App World! PewPew 1 was an unexpected beauty of a game and PewPew 2 only builds on that with it’s new game modes, more ships and campaign mode. I would urge you to be constantly checking for this game in the App World as it’ll get big soon and the developer may put the price up when it begins to hit the big time.
